Products sold under the general label ‘colloidal silver’ (CS) may actually be any one of three distinct products:

- Ionic silver        – Silver protein        – True CS

Ionic

Most products labeled and sold as CS are, unfortunately, ionic . This is because it is so much easier and less costly to produce this type. Among misrepresented facts, this is perhaps the most common.

Ionic products are made up of silver ions and particles. Using electrolysis, the manufacturer produces the ions. These ions are really dissolved silver. Because most (about 90%) of ionic products is dissolved silver instead of particles, these are really solutions of this metal only.

These products are frequently advertised as containing ions that are small particles. That is confusing, however, since silver ions are different from particles.

The ions combine with chloride ions to form silver chloride, but the particles do not.

Some manufacturers hide the identity of their ionic variety behind terms such as monatomic silver and silver hydrosol. These names are used to hide the truth from you. You are getting an ionic solution, not colloidal. So don’t be fooled.
If the product is clear, like water with sugar dissolved in it, it is ionic, not CS which has an apparent color. This is a fact.

How To Test For Ionic Silver

True CS products have the highest total surface area of all the particles taken together. This is important. High surface area determines how effective the CS will be. True CS does not cause Argyria, the condition that causes skin to turn blue-gray. It is an already established and well known fact that silver kills one-celled organisms (germs). Any opinion to the contrary is nonsense.

The effective amount to use of colloidal silver and other silver products depends on each person and situation. The amounts that can boost and enhance the body’s immune system over time, such as the recommended one to three teaspoons per day, are generally not enough for therapeutic use if one needs a special regime  for a specific illness or condition. Regular ‘maintenance’ amounts can help to boost the immune system and help prevent you from catching whatever is going around but doesn’t always absolutely guarantee it.

The regular use of silver can offer some immunity from frequent and dehabilitating infections or at least, they don’t last as long and the symptoms are not usually so severe.

So how much silver is necessary to do what we want it to do, which is either to boost the immune system to keep us from getting (so) sick or to cure us of something we already have?

You can be exposed to viruses and flu or to bronchial and respiratory infections and get away with experiencing only very mild early stage symptoms if anything at all

However for people who have allergies, although silver will alleviate the symptoms of infections caused by allergies, silver cannot cure allergies to plant pollens, pet dander, dust, or other non-microbial causes that may be chemical in nature. Colloidal silver (silver in distilled water) in any reasonable therapeutic use will not ordinarily cause this condition. Certainly this very rare occurrence is not a reason for anyonenot to use one of mankind’s safest and most effective natural germ-killers.

There is a minimal maintenance level of silver consumption at which our cells are able  to develop increased immunity to germs. But as with anything, it may vary greatly from person to person, depending on  body chemistry, body size and a person’s lifestyle.

The effective amount for people who don’t do much exercise may not be enough for someone more active who is losing nutrients and minerals regularly for example through sweating and urination.

Silver when brought into contact with germs inhibits their growth by deactivating their oxygen metabolism enzymes – i.e they smother or suffocate them and this destroys the microbe’s cell membranes, preventing any further replication of its DNA.

For conditions of the ears, eyes, sinuses, throat, and skin, it is a very simple matter, because of easy access to those places. For the ears, a flush works very well by lying on your side or tilting your head and simply filling the ear with silver, either ionic or particle/colloidal; even a few drops may work on mild ear infections.

For the eyes, drops or eye bath will usually do the trick. Cuts and abrasions can have silver solution applied directly to the wound.

Just a mild warning: there are beneficial bacteria on the surface of the skin, just as there is in the digestive system, so any heavy use  should be short-term. If silver is overused, it can result in dry scaly and flaky skin. If you experience this, simply stop using it for a while and the skin will return to normal.

Colloidal and ionic silver are both very effective in getting rid of  gum problems and can help prevent cavities by rinsing the mouth after brushing.

For sinuses two of the most effective tools to use are a mist sprayer/squeeze bottle and better yet, a nebulizer. Most colds start in the nose and as soon as you feel that hot and scratchy sensation, get your mist sprayer and fill it half with silver so that with each squeeze, liquid and air mix to form a fine mist of colloidal silver. If you catch it before it creeps down the throat, you can often stop it in the sinuses with this economical little tool. …But if a cold gets past the sinuses and down into the bronchial tubes or the lungs, the best piece of equipment is a nebulizer, powered by a small but powerful compressor that produces a fine vapor that is inhaled into the mouth and then exhaled thru the nose or vice-versa.

For more advanced stages of congestion, 1-3 drops of Lobelia can also be added to the colloidal silver or to a little distilled water. Lobelia is an herb used as a natural respiratory and lung cleanser. Do not use chlorinated or fluorinated water for this purpose; use either pure colloidal silver or distilled water.

I use whatever it takes to do the job and if that doesn’t work, I use a little more. Even avid users of silver are a little timid about more aggressive use whether for a cold or something more serious. We have simply been intimidated by media disinformation into being scared of using effective silver quantities, at least for short periods of time.

Long-term, heavy use of silver simply for maintenance purposes I do not advocate, but short-term heavy use will usually be the difference in how effective your silver therapy will be.

The aggressive use of silver seldom if ever has to be long-term and should not be for very many. Colloidal silver (particle silver) gets into the blood stream relatively easy when taken in volume, but seems to have a much more difficult time getting to the tissue of the nerves.

Some of the easiest problems to handle with silver are of the stomach, the bladder, the kidneys, the liver and the intestinal tract.

These are all areas where particle silver is the most effective since it is better able to survive the hydrochloric acid of the stomach and of the chloride environs of the body. Stomach, bladder, and kidney issues generally respond reasonably well to smaller amounts (a few teaspoons or tablespoons) of silver than does the intestines, colon, and liver because of their function in the digestive system. These last three generally require a number of ounces and even multiple bottles depending of course on the severity of the problem.

It is important to remember that with a heavier usage of silver, it is best to take Acidophilus or Pro-biotics an hour or so afterwards to replenish the colon flora that is essential for proper digestion. Silver kills bacteria/colon flora and doesn’t distinguish good bacteria from bad. Sometimes bad bacteria is simply an overgrowth of good bacteria often as a result of using patented antibiotics, which by the way are responsible for the deaths of thousands of people every year.

In summary, in regard to silver use we are not looking at how to use silver that is produced with chemical processes, silver nitrates, saline silver solutions, or silver in protein, or any high ppm and large particle silver.

The recommendation here is only for nano-particle colloidal silver produced electrically in distilled water. The use of ionic silver is very effective topically and in areas where it does not need to get into the bloodstream. Particle silver is the best for use inside the body where it must pass through the stomach or get into the bloodstream to be effective.

Regular maintenance use (1-3 teaspoons per day) will help to maintain some beneficial essential trace level of silver. For therapeutic use of silver, much larger short-term servings may be required for effective results.Remember, it is only the long-term abusive use of the wrong kind of silver products that may over time produce skin discoloration issues such as Argyria, but an aggressive short-term use of nano-particle silver in distilled water is not a problem. Colloidal Silver Fact – Ionic Silver

Most products labeled and sold as colloidal silver are, unfortunately, ionic silver. This is because it is so much easier and less costly to produce this type of silver product. Among misrepresented colloidal silver facts, this is perhaps the most common.

Ionic silver products are made up of silver ions and silver particles. Using electrolysis, the manufacturer produces silver ions. Silver ions are really dissolved silver. Because most of the silver (about 90%) in ionic silver products is dissolved silver instead of silver particles, these are really solutions of silver.

These products are frequently advertised as containing silver ions that are small silver particles. That is confusing, however, since silver ions are different from silver particles.

Silver ions combine with chloride ions to form silver chloride, but silver particles do not.

Some manufacturers hide the identity of their ionic silver behind terms such as monatomic silver and silver hydrosol. These names are used to hide the truth from you. You are getting an ionic silver solution, not colloidal silver.

DON’T BE FOOLED.

If the product is clear, like water with sugar dissolved in it, it is ionic silver, not colloidal silver. Colloidal silver has an apparent color. This is a colloidal silver fact.

HOW TO TEST IT.

Add table salt to the product. If silver ions are present, the solution should turn cloudy. If it remains clear, however, it may simply mean no silver is present at all. Unfortunately, lab analysis has shown that some “silver” products contain absolutely no silver.

If the colloidal silver product you are considering claims to be a high concentration of colloidal silver, it is very likely silver protein. Silver protein products usually have large silver particles. They could not remain suspended unless protein was added. Protein helps keep the particles from settling.

What kind of protein is used? Usually, it is gelatin made from animals. The risk of bacteria from the gelatin is one of the dangers of taking silver protein products.

DON’T BE FOOLED.

Silver protein products are the least effective for human use. In addition, silver protein products are known to cause Argyria – bluish skin tone. The condition is due to the high concentration of large silver particles. This is a colloidal silver fact.

HOW TO TEST IT.

Shake the product. If foam appears above the liquid and remains a few minutes, you probably do not have a colloidal silver product.

These products are the most difficult to find, but are the products you want if you are going to use colloidal silver. True colloidal silver products present both difficulties and high cost to the manufacturer. Those who want you to misunderstand this colloidal silver fact want to make money from inferior products.

A colloid is a combination of particles of one substance, dispersed throughout another substance, which are too small to be seen with an ordinary light microscope, but cannot pass through a semipermeable membrane.

When referring to colloidal silver, the word colloid means silver particles. True colloidal silver contains mostly silver particles. True colloidal silver will usually contain 50 to 80% silver particles. The remainder will be silver ions.

HOW TO TEST IT.

Look for an apparent color. Add salt, as described above under “Ionic Silver”. Shake as described under “Silver Protein”. True colloidal silver should pass all three tests.

MRSA is a deadly disease caused by bacteria that is highly resistant to teatment and is now known to result in more deaths in the USA than even Aids. However there is new hope in the effectiveness of treatments such as liquid colloidal silver which is able to prevent the cell mutations that allow bacteria to otherwise be so resistant.

Four recent clincial studies have demonstrated that silver in a variety of forms — including colloidal silver — is able to cure the deadly antibiotic-resistant MRSA infections that now kill more Americans each year than AIDS infections.

Case #1: A Brigham Young Clinical Study Proves Silver Kills MRSA — In this study, conducted quietly in October 2006 at the Department of Microbiology/Molecular Biology of Brigham Young University, and published in the journal Current Science, Vol. 91, No. 7, October 10, 2006, it was found that a number of the antibiotic drugs which formerly killed MDR (multiple drug-resistant) pathogens such as MRSA could actually be restored to full efficacy against the deadly pathogens, but only if a liquid silver solution similar to colloidal silver was used in conjunction with the drug! The researchers wrote:

“Silver-Water-Dispersion solution has been shown as an effective antibiotic against many Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and multiple drug-resistant (MDR) strains (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa). As high level acquired resistance to conventional antibiotics is frequent, it seems reasonable to use combination therapy in order to achieve bactericidal synergism. Active silver solutions have shown marked activity against proven bacterial-resistant strains. Hence, a range of antibiotics were tested with Silver-Water Dispersion solution to determine antagonism, additive and synergistic effects against a panel of microbial strains… It is clear that the combination will allow a more complete clearing of the pathological organism.”

In short, what the researchers found is that when they used the liquid silver solution in conjunction with the antibiotic drugs that had previously lost their effectiveness against MRSA and other deadly super pathogens, the antibiotics began to work again. The synergism between silver and the antibiotic drugs brought the deadly pathogens back under control. Since the antibiotic drugs had previously lost their effectiveness against the super pathogens, this clearly demonstrates that the silver was the deciding factor in the deaths of the deadly pathogens!

Case #2: Iranian Clinical Study Proves Silver Increases Effectiveness of Antibiotic Drugs Against Staph – This study was conducted by the Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Medical Nanotechnology Research Center, Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at the University of Tehran, Iran. Say what you will about the Iranians, but when they do a medical study, they do it up right. Apparently Iranian scientists were two full months ahead of the Brigham Young team above in proving that the addition of silver to antibiotic drugs boosts their ability to kill resistant staphylococcus aureaus. The study was called, “Synthesis and effect of silver nanoparticles on the antibacterial activity of different antibiotics against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.” In part, the researchers demonstrated:

“Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) have been known to have inhibitory and bactericidal effects. Resistance to antimicrobial agents by pathogenic bacteria has emerged in recent years and is a major health problem. …these [silver] nanoparticles were evaluated for their part in increasing the antimicrobial activities of various antibiotics against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The antibacterial activities of penicillin G, amoxicillin, erythromycin, clindamycin, and vancomycin were increased in the presence of silver nano-particles (Ag-NPs) against both test strains. The highest enhancing effects were observed for vancomycin, amoxicillin, and penicillin G against S. aureus.

So once again we see that it is the addition of silver to the three specific antibiotics (vancomycin, amoxicillin and penicillin) that almost magically renews the effectiveness of each of these antibiotic drugs against today’s most deadly pathogens. Silver, as usual, is the key!

Case #3: Taiwanese Clinical Study Proves Colloidal Silver Kills MRSA by itself — Another study, this one conducted in Taiwan, also demonstrated that silver colloids kills both MRSA and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, another deadly and extremely opportunistic superbug. In this study, a special colloidal silver solution was tested on contact surfaces where the deadly pathogens are known to colonize, and from which they can spread to humans. The silver solution proved to be completely effective against both the MRSA and Pseudomonas super pathogens.

The study, which demonstrated conclusively that silver could be applied to contact surfaces to stop colonies of MRSA super pathogens from forming, was titled, “Formation of colloidal silver nanoparticles stabilized by Na(+)-poly(gamma-glutamic acid)-silver nitrate complex via chemical reduction process,” and was conducted at the Department of Textile Science, Nanya Institute of Technology, Chung-Li, Tao-Yuan, Taiwan. It was published in the journal Colloids Surface B Biointerfaces in October 2007.

Case #4: Czech Clinical Study Proves Silver Particles Kill MRSA – This study was conducted at the Department of Physical Chemistry at Palacky University in the Czech Republic. It was later published in the prestigious Journal of Physical Chemistry B in August 2006. Titled “Silver colloidal nanoparticles: synthesis, characterization, and their antibacterial activity,” the study demonstrated that…

“…silver particles with a narrow size distribution with an average size of 25 nm, which showed high antimicrobial and bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including highly multi-resistant strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).” The study further demonstrated that very low concentrations of silver could be utilized to destroy MRSA, as long as the silver particles were very small, averaging 25 nm.

Once again we see silver showing “high antimicrobial and bactericidal activity” against “highly multi-resistant strains” including MRSA.

So why haven’t the medical bureaucrats been shouting from the rooftops about this?

It’s because they do not want to jeopardize the multi-billion dollar annual sales of prescription antibiotic drugs by telling the world that something as simple and inexpensive to produce as colloidal silver could solve the whole problem and save tens or perhaps even hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide every year.
